FIRST SNOW

Schweitzer have received its first snow... on SEPTEMBER 20th! This is one of the earliest snows in recent years at Schweitzer. Schweitzer has an image posted, temporarily at the left (it will change when Schweitzer changes it). By the looks of it, they received up to an inch of snow. The top shows up to three inches. We'll keep you posted as more and more snow falls at the mountain!

Checking in at Other, National Ski Resorts

This week has been full of news from other ski resorts, and it's only Tuesday! Here are the latest headlines circulating around the interwebs.

• Breckenridge and other Colorado ski resorts recieved their first measureable snowfall on Monday.
• Loveland Ski Area in Colorado is set to start snowmaking tomorrow.
• The first towers are springing up for the Peak to Peak gondola at Whistler/Blackcomb.

The Changing Face of Schweitzer Mountain Resort

As you can see, the face of Schweitzer Mountain Resort is changing. The mountain is being improved. The resort is rebranding. As we get ready for the upcoming season, pose yourself the question: Is Schweitzer really changing? We will have more on this topic later, but think about it. We will ask for your answers after the first month of the ski season (prizes?). For now though, we have time to get ready. Think about the question as we get ready for the season.

Weather Forecast - 9/16

Today's NWS forecast reaffirms the vision for snow at Big Blue. A snow or rain/snow mix should prevail all week. In the meantime watch the links below to see if any new snow does fall at Big Blue.

Big Blue should be that mountain in the background. These are Selkirk Powder Company images, and the 2nd link is the live Java webcam. It updates every four seconds or so. It seems to be kind of windy up there, don't you think?

Weather Forecast - 9/15

Okay, there is good news. Not far from Schweitzer, you'll recall, is Big Blue Mountain, at 7,039 feet. Well, the NWS Forecast shows snow - SNOW coming to that mountain very soon. To see for yourself, take a look at this link: BIG BLUE SNOW.

Schweitzer Ranked #21 by Readers of Skiing Magazine

The readers of SKIING Magazine have ranked Schweitzer #21 out of 25 in the NATION. Here's what Schweitzer had to say.

"The Readers of Skiing Magazine have voted Schweitzer Mountain Resort #21 in North America in the October 2007 "Top 25" Resort Guide.

Opinion about this news from skiers at Schweitzer has been widely mixed, with some few going so far as to attribute the ranking to a link, at Schweitzer's website, to the Skiing Magazine Reader Resort Survey Page.
